God in Prayer (Philippians 4)

worry, anxiety, fearPhilippians 4, verse 5 – 7 says:

The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I love the truth that the Word of God presents to us. Such amazing insights into our Lord and how He works.

Consider these notes from the above passage.

  1. “The Lord is at hand…” – the presence of God is here! God’s presence is with you, now. Therefore…
  2. “…do not be anxious about anything…” – you don’t have any reason to worry or fear. Remember, God is with you! So instead…
  3. “…by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving…” – pray and give thanks! When you recognise fear, worry, or anxiety creeping in, stop, arrest those thoughts and use it as an opportunity to thank and pray to God.
  4. “… let your requests be made known to God…” – Pray for your needs, not because God doesn’t know them, but because He wants you to lay the burden of them down at His feet. Get those needs before Him! And then…
  5. “…the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” – Wow, what a promise! Peace, the likes of which you can’t comprehend, will protect you from the effects of worry, anxiety and fear. The link to this is prayer; God active in our prayer.

WHAT NOW?

  1. Meditate on this passage, allowing it’s truth to soak into your heart and mind.
  2. In prayer, give each worry and fear to the Father whose presence is with you.
  3. Receive the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding in Christ Jesus.

Knowing Him Better (Ephesians 1)

All this time...

Ephesians 1:17 says:

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.

Why does God give us revelation by the Spirit? So that we may know Him better.

Anything we do as believers returns to this end – that we may know Him better.

Why is this so? Everything else we do, we do for Him. The ministry, the outreach, the discipleship, the phone calls, the hard work, the discipline, the love, the hard words, the prayer, the labour, the sacrifice, the tears, the low times, the giving, the sowing, the patience, the advice…

All of that stems from one thing – how well we KNOW Him. And how well we know Him stems from our level of spiritual revelation and wisdom.

And here’s good news. This revelation and wisdom is available to you. God gives it, you just need to ask for it and you too will begin to KNOW HIM more and more!

PRAYER: Father I ask you to reveal Jesus to me today. I ask you for fresh revelation of your precious son as I’ve not had before. May new life spring forth from it Lord, I ask. In Jesus name, Thank you Father God, Amen.

How to Encounter God Book

I am really excited to be able to share this with you, my book called “How to Encounter God”.

For a long time, I have held a conviction that we don’t just need to know about God, we need to know God personally. It is when we encounter – or meet with God in a way that changes us – that we know who He is and then know who we are and what it is He has called us to do in this life.

For too long we have tolerated empty formality in the place of a living relationship. If “the Lord is… Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty”(2 Cor 3:17), then it is a spiritually-rooted, freedom-giving relationship that Jesus offers us!

I am giving this book away for FREE. For how long I will do this, I don’t know. But RIGHT NOW it’s free.

How do you get a copy of this book? Just drop your email below and receive it right in your inbox!

How wonderful is the Love of God! Can I encourage you, to stop and encounter His presence today? Why not start by grabbing a copy of How to Encounter God right now!
